Doctor of History, Professor and Head of Sector at the Institute of History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The Institute of History of Ukraine at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is the country's leading institution in scientific research in the field of history, from the times of Rus to the present.

One of Dr Tomazov's most important research areas is to study the history and culture of national minorities in Ukraine, including the Greeks. He has been studying the history of the Greek presence in Ukraine, the Greeks’ contribution to various spheres of life in Ukraine, and the problem of preservation of Greek national identity. He has written a great number of papers, including monographs and articles, as well as organising some international exhibitions and taking part in international research projects (such as the international project "Black Sea": https://blacksea.gr/).

Dr Tomazov is a participant of the program for Ukrainian scholars at Indiana University (2023–2024) and his professional interests include cultural anthropology; history of culture; history of everyday life; social and ethnic history of Ukraine, special (auxiliary) historical disciplines (genealogy, prosopography, biographics, necropolis).

Planned future research projects: A study dedicated to the history of the Greeks in Ukraine, from the 17th century to the present. Coverage of social and cultural features of various Greek compact settlements in the Ukrainian territories – Nizhyn, Lviv, Kyiv Greek communities, and later Odesa, Mykolaiv and North Azov (Mariupol). Study of the contribution of Greek communities to various aspects of Ukrainian life. Determining the influence of the Greeks on the development of the economy of Ukraine – trade, social (urban infrastructure, education, medical care, etc.) and industrial development.
